Dave Marshall Owner/Manager

Graham Seers Cycles Road CyclingDave was born in Port Macquarie and moved to Coffs Harbour at the age of 14.

After living in Coffs Harbour for twenty years and earning his stripes in the bike servicing, sales and racing industry he soon found himself looking for new opportunities.

The opportunity presented itself and in 2009 Dave took the reigns of Graham Seers Cyclery – a well established bike store based in the beautiful Hastings.

Dave wasted no time in setting about improving the existing vast range of stock with the latest in bikes, equipment and accessories.

Meanwhile, maintaining and increasing the store’s commitment to local racing and recreational bike groups as well as raising the local awareness of the sport and supporting the 70.3 (Half Ironman) and Ironman.

Demonstrating his commitment to supporting others in the community, Dave, through Graham Seers Cyclery sponsored Mitch Robbins a local up and coming talent who has been performing well at the Half Ironman (locally) and beyond.

Continuing Dave’s passion for bikes and sharing this great sport with others - Dave and his team undergo regular training and source new gear to keep up to date with the continuous improvements being made to the sport.

Although the business now takes up a lot of Dave’s time, he still manages to get out riding whenever he can.

Dave’s ambition is keep up a great range of stock, a high level of customer service and continue to enhance the awareness of the sport in the Hastings and the benefits it has for all.

Malcolm Downing  Head Bicycle Mechanic

learnerMal has been the head Mechanic at Graham Seers Cyclery for 12 years Now, he started not long after Graham seers sold to Trevor Nicolson in 2004, who has since sold the business to Dave Marshall in 2009.

My biking background started when I was 8 years old , riding road and track in the Taree cycle club. My older brother Ian Downing was one of the best expert men mountain bike riders in the country back when the sport first started in 1988, I also got involved with this sport from its birth in Australia , racing in the first official MTB race at Adamstown army base in 1988.

A few years after that first race came a race series called the Suntour MTB race series. This series had a enduro, downhill and uphill race at each event and it was a point score series, there were about 10 events each year spread all over the country in each state except NT and TAS leading to the National Championships at the end of the year. I raced in the Sub junior age group finishing 5th in my first year 3rd in my second year and 1st in my third year in both down Hill and enduro. Glandular fever ended my biking career early, I went to a AIS development camp in 1993 to lead me towards the world championships but never recovered from my glandular fever fully and stoped racing that year.

These days im more interested in endurance events like Peaks Challenge and Ironman events.

I always had a keen interest in bikes and servicing from the start of my riding career and with the expert tutelage from my brother Ian , who to this day is regarded one of the best bike mechanics in Australia, I have become a great bike mechanic as well, taking pride in my work and attention to detail. I have worked as the official mechanic for many Ironman events and also the World ITU Tri Championships at the Gold coast in 2009. I love my job, its a lifestyle choice working with bikes, it has its moments but , what job doesn't. The thing I love the most about working with bikes is seeing how it can change people's lives for young kids to 65 year old 's doing there first ironman.... its very satisfying ...
